Welcome to our On Snow First Program for the 2011 - 2012 Season

Our 2011/12 season First-Aid classes are now closed and it is impossible for you to complete all of the training to become a patroller this season.

We do have one option left which will start in January 2012 and run through out the winter. It's called On Snow First (OSF), a unique program designed to teach you some basic on hill patroller activities that are NOT First-Aid related. This program is not available at all of our areas and will be on a first come first served basis depending on each area's recruitment requirements for the next season. The price for the OSF program is $100.

You will train with our regular first year patrollers. Generally one evening a week from when the snow flies until you can demonstrate the acquired toboggan handling skills. This will permit you to do all of the non first-aid testing this year, and once completed, you will be an affiliate member of our organization. After which You will be expected to come out to the hills and assist the first-aid patrollers on a scheduled basis.

At many areas you will be issued an arm band to identify you as a CSPS helper, however you can not wear our uniform jacket until you are trained in first-aid and pass our ski test. During this period, You will not be doing any first-aid but may be called upon to assist with things that can be done by a member of the public, such as crowd control, holding someone while a patroller applies a bandage or splint, etc ..

In September of 2012 you would then complete your first-aid training and become fully certified prior to the new season.

To participate in this program you must first register online and pay a $100 registration fee for the season. (Do this only after talking to your patrol leader .. see below) Once the snow flies you will first test at your hill for your ski ability. If you pass you will then start toboggan and accident site management training. If you do not pass the ski ability test you may be given the option to retest later in the season or if you choose we will refund your $100.

5 Areas will offer the OSF Program this season, You MUST contact the corresponding Patrol Leader at the email address listed below to discuss specific's of the program at their area before you register. Each Area may run the program at different times, so please make sure the patrol leader has room at their Area and you find out specific training details for your hill.
For any questions or for further information please Contact Us

NOTE: The $100 is non refundable once you pass the ski test. Please see our Refund Policy

Our Registration is a 2 part process

Step 1 - You must register your interest via our Create Profile webpage, this will produce a form where you must fill out your personal information so that we can create your CSPS ID.  Please indicate on the form in the Preferred Area field "OSF - and name of the Patrol you wish to join" from the list above.

Step 2 - You will receive an email back generally within 24 hours we will activate your profile and email you with the details on completing your OSF Registration (sorry only works once profile is activated).  There you can select the OSF course, your preferred area, and pay online via PayPal, Visa, MasterCard and Amex.
